Jets vs. Tampa, W2W

1. Geno Smith is the starter. The Jets will see if he can make solid reads, and make smart and good throws against the revamped Tampa secondary, which was ranked dead last in pass defense last season. With the free agency additions of Darrelle Revis and Dashon Goldson the Jets need to make quick reads and test revis and see how his surgically repaired knee holds up. I expect a lot of quick passes and some shots deep with new Offensive Coordinator Marty Morhinweg.

2. Can they rattle Josh Freeman early? The Jets will have 7 new starters on defense and the ones to watch will be Dee Milliner who will be opposite Antonio Cromartie. He will be matched up against Mike Williams racked up over 900 receiving yards last year. Sheldon Richardson is the other. Rex raved about his versatility and his ability to get to the QB, which will be key in this game as Freeman has thrown 39 interceptions in the last 3 years which is 3 more than Mark Sanchez. Muhammed Wilkerson thinks if they can get to Freeman early he will be uncomfortable and make bad reads and the Jets will force turnovers.

3. Revis Island Returns To New York. Darrelle Revis will make his return to his MetLife Stadium but this time as a member of the Tamp Bay Buccaneers. Revis is coming off of an ACL injury he sustained in week 3 last year against the Dolphins. The Jets need to find out if he is the same player by testing hime early with quick passes and making him play the deep ball as well as coming up for the run. Rex Ryan says they won't test him but i have a feeling they will early and often until he shows he is the same Revis as old.
