Geno Smith Brutal, Sanchez Injured

Geno Smith got the start in tonights game against the New York Giants. As
Rex Ryan would say he was “brutal” throwing three interceptions and running out
of the back of the end zone for a safety. Geno had a chance to take the starting job
by performing well tonight but showed how much of a rookie he really is. Smith
completed 16-of-30 passes for 199 yards, which included a 22-yard strike to Ben
Obamanu in the first quarter. However, that was the only bright spot for Geno Smith
as the rest of his night was filled with rookie mistakes.
After replacing Geno in the fourth quarter Mark Sanchez again was up and
down. He threw some nice passes and escaped pressure but on his first drive he
fumbled a shotgun snap that hit him right in the hands and the Giants took
possession. Later on in the fourth, Sanchez escaped a couple of defenders and threw
a comeback to WR Muhammad Massaquio, but was hit by Marvin Austin and hurt
his right shoulder. He was on the ground in significant pain but managed to walk off
and was done for the night. It was a questionable decision to even have Sanchez in
the game playing behind the backup offensive line and 3
were seriously injured Rex Ryan would have been the joke of the league for the rest
of the season for putting their likely starting quarterback in the 4
preseason game.

This competition will no doubt head into preseason game number four with
the starter to be named after the game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Whoever
performs best will be the week one starter against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but
for now it is up in the air on who Rex will pick.
