Jets QB Battle is Wide Open

The battle for starting QB is wide
open after Sanchez inconsistent performance tonight against the Jaguars. Sanchez
started off great with an opening drive that led to a 23-yard TD pass to Jeff
Cumberland. Sanchez started out 3-3 for 48 yards. Sanchez soon reverted back to
his old form as the Jets were in the red zone and threw a pick in the end zone
intended for Kellen Winslow. The next drive the Jets had six seconds on the clock
and it was third down, Rex wanted to run one more quick play before halftime and
at least get a field goal. Sanchez held onto the ball the whole six seconds and threw
an incompletion in the end zone leaving the Jets with zero points in two straight
trips in the red zone.
After such an inconsistent performance Rex will let Geno Smith get a lot
of time with the starters next Saturday against the Giants since he was unable to
go tonight and Sanchez played three quarters. Geno Smith will get a chance to
showcase his talent for a couple quarters considering he was only in for three drives
the first preseason game. His ankle should be healed up and ready to go come next
Saturday and if he performs well Sanchez job will definitely be in jeapordy.
